Video Games and Consoles : A History

 

In the late 1940s, video games was born in early cathode ray tube – based missile defense. During the 1950s, these programs were adapted in other simple games.

More computer games were developed by the late 1950s and through the 1960s, gradually increasing in sophistication and complexity.

By that time, video games diverged into different platforms : arcade, mainframe, console, personal computer and later hand held games.

Computer space is the first commercially viable video games in 1971. It is the foundation of a new entertainment industry on United States, Japan and Europe.

When companies were forced to sell older obsellete systems flooding the market in 1977, the first crash was occureded.
